Charlie Chooses: The 7 pay-day designer buys that our Fashion Editor is dreaming of

Okay now I really do have enough handbags, but there’s nothing like a new Loewe puzzle to lure me in. This epic update on the timeless shape is one of my favourites so far, and I love the rarely-seen clash of black and navy contrasted with the bright cream. It’s timeless enough for every day, but certainly special enough for date night.

5. The patchwork quilted coat

Printed patchwork is a huge trend this autumn/winter, and while I rarely lean into ‘trends’ via pieces with such a steep price-tag something tells me that this look won’t be going anywhere soon. This belted coat is the best incarnation I’ve seen so far, with the perfect balance of contrasting colours and prints.

6. The distressed knitted vest

Knitted vests have been big news for several seasons now, but there’s been little in the way of variation to keep the look interesting. This distressed, loose-fitting number is, of course, far more my bag. It has a super fresh feel about it, and a carefree ease that makes it the perfect piece to throw on with a pair of jeans and boots.

7. The draped tapered trousers

Post-lockdown, jeans are proving somewhat less tempting than they once were. Instead, flared skirts and maxi dresses bring the comfort factor, but there are times that call for a trouser. The draping to either side of this tapered pair is undoubtedly divisive, but I love the fluidity it gives to the look.
