Piers Morgan Says He’s Been Approached About a Return to Good Morning Britain

The show’s ratings have dipped without the deeply Royalist host.

When Piers Morgan stormed off the set of Good Morning Britain in early March after his colleague Alex Beresford challenged him about his comments about Prince Harry and, especially, Meghan Markle, it looked like it was the last we’d see of him on ITV’s celebrated breakfast chat show.

But Morgan has long maintained that “the vast majority of Britons are right behind me” in his rhetorical crusade against, as he so-maturely calls Markle, the Pinocchio Princess. Now, not yet three months since the Oprah Winfrey interview that lit a match to this kindling, it may be that Morgan has won this round.

The Sun is reporting that Good Morning Britain has been in “a ratings slump” since Morgan and the show parted ways. The paper quotes Morgan saying “they reached out — there have been approaches. Never say never.” But if you think time away from the spotlight has led to a mellower attitude concerning the California-based couple who have stepped down from their royal duties, that does not seem to be the case. The one-time CNN host said that he felt Harry and Meghan should be stripped of their titles for “trashing the institution and causing a lot of damage.”

He also referred to revelations from the Winfrey interview as “this racism crap” and added that “they’ve become the world’s biggest victims in the middle of a pandemic. It’s pathetic. Harry needs to grow up.”

Regarding his last day on air, the former host did share some regrets. “I shouldn’t have walked off, though,” he said. “You can’t be the great crusader of free speech and then walk off when someone says something you don’t like.”

Saturday morning Morgan tweeted a picture of him reading the British tabloid with the story on the cover.

Below, one of the more moderate videos out there highlighting Morgan’s rudest moments.
