Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase Officially Announced For E3 2021

The date and time for Xbox and Bethesda’s E3 2021 showcase have just been officially announced for Sunday, June 13. After sitting out 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual E3 event returns in an all-digital form this year, and a long list of the industry’s top publishers and developers are coming along for the ride.

Among the big names set to make an appearance at this year’s E3 are Square Enix, Gearbox, Nintendo, and Ubisoft – though both PlayStation and Konami have opted out of the festivities. Microsoft’s Xbox will be present and accounted for, however, and it will be bringing its most recent studio acquisition along with it when it hits the big stage in just two short weeks. Indeed, registration for E3 has already begun, with fans and press able to sign up to watch the digital event free of charge.

On Wednesday, Xbox finally confirmed that its E3 games showcase will take place at 10 AM PDT/1 PM EDT on June 13 , the second day of the four-day-long event. Several of Xbox’s in-house development studios, including the recently-purchased Bethesda Softworks, will also be part of Xbox’s showcase, which is said to last about 90 minutes and cover a range of topics, new game announcements, and upcoming releases for Xbox Game Pass. Xbox also promoted its upcoming E3 panel on social media with a Halo-centric promotional image, though what appears to be the planet from Starfield‘s reveal trailer is included in it’s lower half.

This year’s E3 event will be a significant one for Bethesda, as it will be the first one the studio is featured at following its highly publicized acquisition by Xbox in 2020. Rumors had begun to circulate that both companies would make their presence felt on the second day of E3 2021, which itself is fighting an uphill battle to remain relevant in the wake of COVID-19, the advent of competing events like Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest, and a steady decline of participating partners over the past few years as publishers have started their own in-house livestream events.

It’s not entirely known what games and announcements will be unveiled at Xbox and Bethesda’s E3 2021 panel games showcase, but the Twitter post’s emphasis on Spartans and previous rumors suggest that the previously delayed Halo Infinite will make a feature appearance, as well as Bethesda’s upcoming space title Starfield. Fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out for themselves though, as E3 2021 is currently set to begin on Saturday, June 12 and run until Tuesday, June 15 – and will be available to stream on all major social media platforms.
