Surreal Horrors This Halloween With “Imagine A World” and “We Follow You” [World of Death]

Hey there, folks!

It’s time for another episode of everyone’s favorite horror series, just in time for everyone’s favorite holiday. I’m talking about our version of Christmas, of course… Halloween! With it being such a chaotic year, I hope everyone will be able to settle down and enjoy the month to the fullest. We at World of Death are going to try and help set the mood with a couple of shorts in the same vein of the beloved Netflix Series Black Mirror.

First up, we have Imagine a World from writer/director Joanna Tsanis. I had a lot of fun with this one. In this story, a door-to-door salesman stops by and tries to convince a brother and sister to upgrade their internet. When he refuses to take no for an answer, things get interesting. There is a good build of tension, while peppering a good amount of laughs. Combined with some choice moments for practical effects, it’s sure to have something for everyone.

Next, we have We Follow You directed by Brandon Espy. In a time where we’ve lived a large portion of our lives reaching for human connections via social media and other electronic outlets, this is the perfect film to sum it up. In fact, this film takes it to the next level. Following someone on social media isn’t just happening in cyberspace anymore. It’s happening right in front of you. I love the message of people everywhere worshipping these false idols of the web. The people we dub influencers because their lives are considered “influential” to the everyday public. This is essentially a zombie film without your traditional living dead. They’re the dead living.

Once again, I hope everyone has a fun and SAFE Halloween this year. Make sure you get in some proper screams. – Dominick DeLuca
