Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas Are Best Friends, and Have the Jewelry to Prove It

It sounds like a fairy tale. Two halves of a heart wandering the earth. One unfulfilled, sensing something is missing, but what? The other in a similar way. They find themselves gorgeous and in Hollywood. But no success or symmetrical facial features can whole a halved heart.

And then one day they find each other on the New Orleans set of the psychological thriller Deep Water. They feel psychologically thrilled to have met each other. Sparks fly. Production on the film wraps, but their fledgling love does not. They go on a beach vacation and see if this thing has legs. And then a global pandemic, which may have once appeared like it’d stay far away from Hollywood, becomes too serious to ignore. Only thing left to do is shelter-in-place together at last. They wear a couple of halved heart necklaces to symbolize the end of a long journey. Their heart, as it were, is finally whole.

Wow, a real love story for our broken times, and one made possible by a fan account for Ana de Armas. @ArmasUpdates originally spotted the necklace on her and her costar turned current beau, Ben Affleck.

They’ve been wearing them for some time, too. One can see de Armas wearing it in the many April photos of the pair out on their quarantine constitutionals. Two halves of one heart, finally connected.

Unless. Well. I suppose it could mean that they are best friends too. Like all of that stuff above with a more grade school wash? It’s a platonic thing? The best friends necklaces are a quiet signal to those who need to know that, sure, these two gorgeous people are staying up all night together, but they’re collaging and playing MASH. Sneaking an off-hours peek in the fridge when the rest of the house has long been asleep. Renting the same movie again. All very innocent and all that. I guess either way, how lucky to be quarantining with your best friend.
