Batwoman Cast & Character Guide | Screen Rant

The Batwoman cast consists of notable TV and movie actors who’ve come together to bring the latest Arrowverse series to life on the small screen and the very first series in this universe to take place in Gotham City. In 2018’s Elseworlds crossover event, Batwoman and the Arrowverse’s version of Gotham were introduced, along with confirmation that Batman exists (or existed) in this franchise. Now, instead of being a guest star, Batwoman headlines her own TV series which airs on Sunday nights.

Based on the character of the same name from DC Comics, The CW’s Batwoman is developed by Caroline Dries, who’s written and produced episodes of Smallville, Melrose Place, and The Vampire Diaries, along with Greg Berlanti, one of the network’s most prolific producers; he co-created the Arrowverse as a whole, including Supergirl, which originally aired on CBS. And now, he has continued that relationship with WB by co-developing Batwoman.

Batwoman was officially ordered to series in mid-2019 and received a full writing staff to help shepherd the show through its first season (and presumably through its second, as it very likely will be renewed considering its popularity thus far). Furthermore, the Batwoman cast was fleshed out with top-tier actors and actresses, some of whom have headlined previous shows before. Here is a full rundown of the Batwoman cast, including those with recurring roles and those who are guest-starring.

Batwoman Main Cast & Characters

Batwoman Main Cast

Ruby Rose as Kate Kane aka Batwoman: Kate is the cousin of Bruce Wayne/Batman who has taken over as Gotham’s protector. She is also an outed lesbian, which is something she has in common with the person who portrays her: Ruby Rose. Rose achieved prominence as an actress for her role as Stella Carlin on Orange is the New Black. Following her Netflix role, she appeared in blockbuster films such as John Wick: Chapter 2, Pitch Perfect 3, and The Meg.

Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore: Sophie is a military academy graduate who’s become a top-level private security agent in Gotham. She also has a previous relationship with Kate. Sophie is played by Meagan Tandy, who is known for her role as Braeden on Teen Wolf and Lulu Pope on Jane by Design.

Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox: Luke is the son of long-time Batman associate Lucius Fox, and he’s responsible for maintaining security at Wayne Tower. In the comics, Luke ultimately becomes the superhero Batwing. Batwoman marks Camrus Johnson’s highest-profile job yet, but he’s also appeared in The Sun is Also a Star and various other TV shows, such as There’s… Johnny! and Unproductive.

Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton: Mary Hamilton is Kate’s step-sister and the total opposite of the show’s titular superhero. Mary is an influencer-in-the-making and a thorn in Kate’s side. Nicole Kang is primarily known for playing Lynn Lieser in Lifetime’s (and later Netflix’s) YOU. She also guest-starred on Orange is the New Black and Two Sentence Horror Stories.

Rachel Skarsten as Alice: As the leader of the Wonderland Gang (an organization inspired by Alice in Wonderland), Alice seeks to devastate Gotham’s security. In the comics, Alice (or Red Alice) is meant to be Kate Kane’s twin sister who becomes a supervillain. In the series, Alice is portrayed by Rachel Skarsten, who previously played Black Canary in the short-lived Birds of Prey TV series. Skarsten recently appeared in Fifty Shades of Grey and as Elizabeth I in Reign.

Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane: Jacob Kane is Kate Kane’s father and a former military service member who now makes his living by protecting Gotham with his private security agency, The Crows. Dougray Scott is an accomplished film and TV actor who starred in movies such as Ever After and Mission: Impossible 2, as well as TV shows like Desperate Housewives (as Ian Hainsworth) and Hemlock Grove (as Dr. Norman Godfrey).

Elizabeth Anweis as Catherine Hamilton-Kane: Catherine Hamilton-Kane is Mary’s mother and Kate’s step-mother. Just like Jacob, she also works on security and defense. In the comics, she inherited the Hamilton arms fortune. Before landing a role on Batwoman, Elizabeth Anweis spent most of her career guest-starring on some of the biggest shows in the industry, such as Law & Order, Grey’s Anatomy, Parks and Recreation, and more.

Batwoman Recurring & Guest Stars

Batwoman Magpie and Thomas Elliot

Rachel Maddow as Vesper Fairchild: Vesper Fairchild is a radio personality in Gotham and someone who exhibits “snark, gossip, and criticism of female superheroes,” particularly Batwoman. In the comics, Vesper became the love interest for Batman. Rachel Maddow is certainly well-known for being a broadcast journalist who hosts The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC.

Sebastian Roché as Dr. Campbell: Dr. Campbell is a philanthropist and one of Gotham’s best and respected plastic surgeons. Sebastian Roché is best known for his role as Mikael Mikaelson on The Vampire Diaries and its spinoff show, The Originals.

Gabriel Mann as Thomas Elliot: Thomas Elliot is an old friend of Bruce Wayne’s who threatens to reveal Kate’s secret identity. In the comics, Thomas ultimately becomes the supervillain Hush, and he’s very good at uncovering the identities of not only heroes but villains as well. Gabriel Mann plays Thomas, and while he’s starred in several movies over the years, he’s primarily known for playing Nolan Ross on Revenge.

Rachel Matthews as Magpie: Magpie is a jewel thief who tends to steal “shiny things” that are named after birds. She was defeated by both Batman and Superman in the comics. Rachel Matthews’ biggest role so far was also what helped launch her career: playing Danielle Bouseman in Happy Death Day and Happy Death Day 2U.
