Last year, eventual Oscar Best Picture winner Oppenheimer won a leading five awards at the Golden Globes including Best Picture – Drama, one of 14 movie categories that will be announced Monday. On the TV side, Succession and The Bear took top series honors last go-round.

Two new categories in the January 2024 show — Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television — also return for the 2025 ceremony, which is set to air Sunday, January 5 on CBS, with streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S. (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subs the day after).

This kicks off the first year of a five-year rights deal between the Globes and CBS after the 2024 ceremony aired on the network, drawing 9.96 million viewers in Live+7, up nearly 50% from the 2023 show on NBC and the Globes’ largest audience since 2020.

Comedian Nikki Glaser is hosting the 2025 ceremony, which will also see Viola Davis receive the Globes’ Cecil B. DeMille Award for career achievement in film. Ted Danson will receive the Carol Burnett Award honoring his TV career.

The Golden Globes are produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a joint venture between Deadline owner Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge.
