Sweetpea season 2 has been confirmed – the show’s star Ella Purnell confirmed it herself

The news is out: Ella Purnell has confirmed that Sweetpea season 2 is coming.

Series 1 was an absolute hit, following the story of “wallflower” Rhiannon (played by Purnell) and what happens one day when she gets sick of being overlooked and ignored – so naturally she decides to go on a killing spree. Sweetpea is a dark comedy, it’s an ode to female anger, and it’s back for a second chapter.

In an Instagram video, Ella announced the series’ return. She said: “Hi everyone its Ella here, I just wanted to say thank you guys for watching Sweetpea and for all of your reactions and responses. it’s been so amazing to hear how much you guys liked the show and we really appreciate it.

“I wanted to be the first person to tell you some very exciting news which is that Sweetpea will be coming back for a second series… I can’t wait for you guys to see what we’ve been cooking up. Stay tuned!”

Stay tuned.”

Here’s everything else we know so far about Sweetpea season 2.

Sweetpea season 2 plot

We don’t yet have a specific plot synopsis for season 2, but we would say it will continue the genius plotline of Ella Purnell’s Rhiannon Lewis and her coming-of-rage story.

The plot description for season 1 reads as follows: “Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression – people walk past her in the street without a second glance. She’s continually overlooked for a promotion at work, the guy she likes won’t commit, and her dad is really, really sick. So far, so shit. Then everything in her life is turned upside down, and Rhiannon is pushed over the edge. She snaps. Suddenly the wallflower is gone, and in its place is a young woman capable of anything… Rhiannon’s life transforms as she steps into a new, intoxicating power, but can she keep her killer secret?”
