While Remedy has been keeping up with its fiscal reports for fans (the latest being released just two weeks ago), we’ve never actually gotten sales figures for its two recent hits in Control and Alan Wake II. That’s now changed with Remedy’s Capital Markets Day 2024 presentation, which also revealed a bit of news regarding Control 2.
According to the presentation, Control has sold in excess of 4.5 million units since its launch back in 2019. Coupled with the Epic Games Store’s free giveaway of the base game a few years ago, over 19 million players have played the game across PC and consoles.
Meanwhile, Alan Wake II, while being on the cusp of breaking even, has surpassed 1.8 million units sold across PC and consoles since its launch in October 2023, with around 40% of players having completed the game.
The presentation also revealed more information regarding the in-development Control 2 in that the sequel will be more of an action RPG, rather than an action adventure title like the first game. Remedy also expects that Control 2 will sell between three and four million copies during its lifetime on the market. Remedy’s other in-development title in the Control universe, the PvE first-person shooter FBC: Firebreak, is expected to sell 3 million copies in its lifetime.
Both Control 2 and FBC: Firebreak are currently in development for consoles and PC.
