Kevin Feige Teases Future Of ‘Blade’, Scarlet Witch, Miles Morales

Blade might be off the theatrical calendar, but Marvel Studios Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige has exclaimed that the studio is “committed” to the project.

The reboot of the Wesley Snipes franchise was announced at Comic-Con 2019 with Oscar winner Mahershala Ali in the title role. However, there was a rotation of directors in Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange with a script that didn’t pass muster per Marvel. Mia Goth was also attached to play supervillian Lilith in the vampire slayer feature.

Feige’s statements were made in recently to the Brazilian entertainment website Omelete.

“We love the character, we love Mahershala’s version of him. And rest assured: whenever we change direction with a project, or are still trying to figure out how it fits into our schedule, we let the public know. You’re up to date on what’s going on. But I can tell you that the character will be coming to the MCU,” Feige said.

He also provided an update on Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. Though she died at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Madness, she went missing from the WandaVision Disney+ spinoff, Agatha Forever.

Feige told Omelete that Scarlet isn’t dead yet.

“Since then (Agatha), there have been a lot of questions about Wanda on fans’ minds… So all I can say is that we’re excited to find out when and how the Scarlet Witch might return,” Feige said.

While there’s no theatrical release date yet for Sony/Marvel’s animated threequel, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, there is a relase date for the fourth Tom Holland-Zendaya Marvel Studios-Sony Spider-Man co-production, which is July 24, 2026. No immediate plans to launch a live-action version of the famed animated Spidey, Miles Morales, however, Feige didn’t close the door on that saying “I hope that, shortly after that (Beyond the Spider-Verse), he can enter the MCU in live-action.”

Feige’s statements to Omelete were timed to Brazilian D23 recently.
