Bill Maher Defends Cheryl Hynes After RFK Jr. Endorses Trump

As Cheryl Hynes continues to face fallout over her husband’s political doings, Bill Maher has a message for her haters.

Although he noted on Friday’s episode of HBO‘s Real Time with Bill Maher that he “couldn’t support” Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for president, the comedian stood up for the former candidate’s wife from social media criticism after her husband endorsed Donald Trump.

“His wife is Cheryl Hines, who Larry David was quoted describing as ‘the best person I’ve ever met, the one person in Hollywood who doesn’t have a single enemy,’” noted Maher. “Well, now she does… because she didn’t throw her husband under the bus when her husband made a decision about something, which she’s made plain she disagrees with.”

He called out the “the obnoxious posers on the aforementioned far left,” referencing a series of tweets aimed at her before directing his attention to Bradley Whitford‘s recent post.

“Well, you know what I think is not gutsy? Mansplaining to a woman — but of course not to her face — how she should sacrifice her marriage, all so you could read something on Twitter that met with your approval,” Maher said. “You wanna know why I have a bug up my ass about the Left more than I used to? It’s s— like this. There’s an ugliness they never used to have. The liberals I grew up respecting, none of them were like this. Going after the wife, even the mafia doesn’t do that.”

Maher mused, “In theory, liberals are compassionate. In practice, this guy can’t even understand one of the most basic dilemmas common to all humans — that when you’re married, sometimes you have to swallow some s—.”

In Whitford’s post, he called out Hynes for staying “silent while your lunatic husband throws his support behind the adjudicated rapist who brags about stripping women of their fundamental rights.”

RFK Jr. previously suspended his campaign for presidency last month, throwing his support behind Republican nominee Trump and running mate J.D. Vance.
