A Timeline of Taylor Swift and Katy Perry’s Feud, From Beginning to End

This all brings us to Swift’s infamous Rolling Stone interview from September 2014. Swift talked about her new song “Bad Blood” and where the inspiration came from:

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at award shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'” she said. “[Then last year] she did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational — you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”

Considering everything there is out there about the tour drama, this would have to be about Perry. Plus, as the quotes alludes to, we’d seen them at plenty of award shows. Swift talked a bit about a personal element in the piece as well. The article reads, “(Pressed, Swift admits there might have been a personal element to the conflict. ‘But I don’t think there would be any personal problem if she weren’t ‘competitive,’ she says.).” While it still seems to be about business, there’s a hint of a moment in there where you could see how it might be about Mayer, too.
