This Zendaya doppelgänger has TikTok spinning

Don’t worry, you’re not on your own if you’re a little bit obsessed with celebrity lookalikes, so when I saw this Zendaya doppelgänger, my head spun. I’m absolutely fascinated with the concept of a doppelgänger, me and @ciggybae’s 500k+ followers on TikTok, that is.

Now these two are so alike I had to do a double take, okay fine, a triple take. From the eye shape, down to the hair pattern, it is absolutely uncanny… and this is all without makeup…

The idea that someone completely unrelated to you, with five or more degrees of separation, different parents, grandparents, sometimes even different heritage, looks just like you is mind boggling.

It defies every law of DNA and genealogy right before our eyes and it’s all a one big coincidence. In recent years I’ve been told that I favour Brigerton’s Simone Ashley, a South East Asian woman (I’m Black African). I’ve also recently spotted another lookalike on a Sephora ad, and even received congratulatory messages from distant aquaintances because of it. I saw it, and I too thought it could have been me.

But nothing I’ve experience is as close to this. We’ll need an ancestry test for this one, because are these two absolutely sure that they’re not a least 2nd cousins?

Truly, they’re so similar we probably wouldn’t blink twice if 19-years-old @ciggybae herself covered Zendaya on a red carpet without anyone bating an eyelash. She probably also has a strong future as a stunt double for the multi-award winning actress and singer. I could even see them on a revival of the iconic Tia and Tamara Mowry show ‘Sister Sister’.

I have many twins and triplets in my family, and none of them look as similar to each other as these two. @ciggybae IS Euphoria’s Rue Bennett but with a splash of “hmm something is different”.

No wonder the TikToker is monetising heavy on this epic comparison, – who wouldn’t want to be confused with Zendaya? She now boasts a large following across a couple of platforms, and has a streaming channel. She was recently spotted on YouTube sensation Kai Cenat’s live stream and the internet lost their minds trying to understand how he managed to secure Zendaya on his channel. Of course, it wasn’t the real Zendaya, but he almost had us all fooled.

@ciggybae most liked TikTok sits at 47M+ views and is flooded with comments of people who genuinely thought they were watching a candid Zendaya, jumping on a TikTok trend, only to find out right at the end that it’s not. “Not me thinking this was actually Zendaya” said one user, others adding: “Ok Zendaya quit playin ik it’s you” and “I was def convinced you were Zendaya for like 10 seconds” says another.

The internet is dumbfounded.

Having a Zendaya doppelgänger may be a little scary sure, but we are truly fascinated.
