The XXL Bombshell Blowout Is The Cool Girl Way To Add Volume To Hair

Undone ‘French girl’ hair, with its laissez-fair approach to styling, almost made our hair dryers redundant. But now that oversight has been corrected with the XXL bombshell blowout.

The volume we once tried to smooth into submission is being tousled back into existence once again and now it’s poised to be a must-do summer trend for ‘going out’ and date night hair.

The internet is awash with different influences for the look. “It is a total modern revisit of ’70s Jerry Hall hair,” says hairstylist Neil Moodie. Other references unsurprisingly include Barbie the movie and a love affair with Pamela Anderson‘s ’90s hair.

Whatever the inspiration, the fact remains that we’re finally going all-in for reviving the XXL bombshell blowout.

Even celebrities have jumped on the trend. While for Jennifer Lopez the appeal of a big, bouncy blow dry never waned, there’s been a marked shift in perception and high-key glamorous hair has actually become cool again.

Sydney Sweeney arguably signalled its return when she wowed on the red carpet at this year’s Met Gala with a fluffy Barbie-esque blowout and oversized hair bow.

Now everyone from Gigi Hadid to Jennifer Lawrence have followed suit with the gravity-defying hairstyle, while Beyoncé has artfully switched between barrel waves and the XXL bombshell blowout on her Renaissance tour.
