Succession Season 4 Praised in Early Reviews By Critics

Succession is set to end on a high, with its fourth and final season said to take viewers on an epic ride, which according to critics, will be “the talk of the entertainment world”.

Yes, the first set of reviews are in for Jesse Armstrong’s Emmy-winning black comedy-drama that follows the escapades of the Roy family in this dark satire, battling for power and revenge. With the show soon set to return, the first four episodes were available to critics, who all appear to be shaken to the core (in a good way) by what they have seen.

In particular, IndieWire wrote: “Succession won’t rest on its laurels. No, the final season is here to annihilate you.” Decider echoed: “Succession Season 4 also happens to be Armstrong and the writers’ most ambitious season yet. Huge swings are made from the jump, and every one of them lands with creativity, nuance, and grace. The most impressive thing about the writing in Succession Season 4 is how major emotional moments are amplified by the smallest of details: a hand tentatively reaching for another hand, a shoulder jerked away, or even a Sudoku game.”

Meanwhile, The Daily Beast elaborated: “Succession’s forthcoming shocker [still not to be spoiled here!] will undoubtedly be the talk of the entertainment world. In the end, though, it’s both a fitting turn of events for a show on the way out, and conclusive proof that, when it comes to the Roys and their various associates, accomplices, and hangers-on, strategically conspiring for the crown isn’t merely a full-time job—it’s a way of life.”

What will season four of Succession be about?

Thankfully, the gushing reviews have all been spoiler-free. But if you’re dying to know the general plot of the fourth season, here it is: “The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.” Ooo, sounds good!

Who will star in Succession season four?

Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Nicholas Braun, Alexander Skarsgård and Matthew Macfadyen will all return.

Where can we see the teaser trailer for Succession season four?

In a trailer released by Sky, there are plenty of references to events from the season three finale, which saw Tom Wambsgans tip off Logan Roy about the Roy siblings’ plans to put a stop to Waystar Royco from merging with GoJo. “You want to talk about what happened?” Tom asks his wife Shiv (Sarah Snook) in the teaser. Eek! There’s certainly plenty of drama to come. And if you want further insight into how hotly-anticipated the fourth season is, just know that a whopping 1.4 viewers tuned in for the season three finale! Watch below:
