If there’s one thing Kimora Lee Simmons and New York City Mayor Eric Adams have in common, it’s supporting New York Fashion Week.
The two were seen grabbing a late-night dinner at Nobu Fifty Seven around midnight on Saturday, according to Page Six. The politician sat next to the Baby Phat designer at the dinner and according to a source, they were seated at a table with several other people, including Simmons’s daughters, Ming and Aoki Lee, who had just finished walking the runway for Sergio Hudson and Kim Shui. “They were just acting friendly toward each other,” the insider told the outlet. “Nothing intimate.”
A City Hall spokesperson confirmed to Page Six that Adams and Simmons are not romantically involved and only met for the first time last Friday night as the mayor was the guest of a mutual friend, one of the eight other people in attendance at the dinner party. Aoki, who is 20 years old, interns for Adams’s office. According to the Harvard student’s LinkedIn profile, she has worked for the NYC Office of the Mayor since June 2022.
Adams has also spent time with Ming and Aoki’s father, Russell Simmons, in the past. Russell and Kimora were married for eleven years before deciding to go their separate ways in 2009. In August 2022, the mayor tweeted out a photo of himself and the rap mogul together with the caption, “Hip Hop tells the story of this city and of the Bronx.” He then went on to share, “Today, we announced a $2 Million commitment in new capital funding for the Universal Hip Hop Museum alongside $3.5 million from the local elected officials so that the beat of our city will play on for generations to come.”
The mayor has been in a longtime relationship with his girlfriend, Tracey Collins, an author and assistant superintendent at the city’s Department of Education. While the pair tend to keep their romance out of the public eye, Collins did join him as his date to the Met Gala in May 2022, where he introduced her as “my other half,” and was also at the politician’s side during his Times Square inauguration on New Year’s Eve.
Representatives for Simmons and Mayor Adams did not return Vanity Fair‘s request for comment at the time of publication.
