19 Ankle Boots Approved By GLAMOUR

Honestly, there isn’t an outfit that ankle boots won’t go with. While knee high boots bring the warmth, they can be slightly trickier to style. And although we love over-the-knee boots, they’re not as easy to just pull on and go, are they? Mid-calf boots are the fashion pack’s choice but again, don’t work with every skirt length or trouser shape… Seriously, ankle boots are The Ones if you’re looking for style and ease combined.

The good news? Ankle boots come in a huge array of colours, fabrics and heel heights to suit your own personal tastes. There are patent ones, stiletto styles, Chelsea boots, combat boots, brown, black and rainbow coloured versions, cowboy boots and hiking boots – all with that uber-flattering cut that finishes on your ankle. It’s that versatile height that allows you to choose the widest variety of outfits to accompany them. Mini-skirts feel particularly right with ankle boots but they also suit knee-length, midi and maxi styles (although it depends on the heel height you choose, of course.) Likewise floor-sweeping baggy jeans suit their style as do trousers – or jeans – that finish at your ankle or are cropped. They even work with shorts!

If you have a designer-sized budget, we are huge fans of McQueen’s buckled leather ankle boots and Gucci’s logo-splatted canvas version. Both would make a statement if you keep the rest of your outfit simply styled. Ganni’s boots with super-sized sole and elastic panel are the fash-pack’s favourite while H&M’s zip-front ankle boots are our fave high street find. They nod to a far more expensive pair and come with fluffy teddy fur lining that makes them perfect for weekend breaks and park dates. You will get more wear from a darker shade of boot – there’s a reason why most shoes come in black – but Zara’s golden high heel boots, Ugg’s cute hot pink mini sheepskin boots and ASOS’s chunky lace-up boots in khaki are all unusual options that will cheer up dull autumn days (and add edge to your summer outfits next year too.)
