House of the Dragon Season 2: Everything We Know About It So Far

House of the Dragon has undoubtedly lived up to the mammoth expectations put in place by the cult favourite, Game of Thrones.

After all, the new Sky Atlantic show, which is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood novel, was billed as a prequel to the famous fantasy drama HBO television series, with its events taking place before everything that occurred before Game of Thrones.

And with record-breaking millions of fans tuning in each week, House of the Dragon has entertained with its shocking revelations about the Targaryen dynasty, including the insight into the rivalry between King Viserys’ second wife Alicent Hightower and daughter Rhaenrya and the introduction to the Greens and Blacks.

Has season two of House of the Dragon been confirmed?

Soon after the premiere of season 1, HBO announced plans to renew the show, which will return to Sky and NOW in the UK.

Managing director of content at Sky, Zai Bennett, said: “House of the Dragon is already proving to be a ratings hit, and we predict it will go from strength to strength due to the captivating storytelling and incredible production values.

“We look forward to sharing a second series with our customers on Sky and NOW.”

While we look forward to season two, the show’s star Matt Smith, sent the rumour mill swirling that there may even be a season three! “Once we make the jump, we’re in. I’m pretty sure from then on there’s not any big huge time jumps, particularly next season and the one after,” he said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

What will House of the Dragon season two be about?

While it hasn’t been confirmed, season two will likely cover the timeline of 129-131 AC from George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood. This period decides the successor to the Iron Throne.
