Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson may not make great romantic partners, but it seems they both agree they make pretty good co-parents as the former couple confirmed this week that they are expecting another child together via surrogate.
A representative for the reality star confirmed the news to People, saying, “We can confirm True will have a sibling who was conceived in November. Khloé is incredibly grateful to the extraordinary surrogate for such a beautiful blessing. We’d like to ask for kindness and privacy so that Khloe can focus on her family.”
While Kardashian and Thompson will now share a four-year-old daughter and this newborn—which Page Six claims will be a boy—another source confirmed to the outlet that, “Khloé and Tristan are not back together and have not spoken since December outside of co-parenting matters.” They added, “The baby was conceived via surrogate before it was revealed to Khloé and the public that Tristan was having a baby with someone else in December.”
Kardashian and Thompson officially ended their on-again, off-again relationship for what seems to be the final time in January of this year after it was revealed that the NBA star had fathered a child with another woman, Maralee Nichols, during their relationship. That baby was born on December 1st and, following a paternity test, it was confirmed that Thompson is the father. The reality star and Thompson have been dating since 2016, welcoming their first daughter True in 2018, and it wasn’t the first time Thompson had been caught being unfaithful. He is also father to another 5-year-old son, Prince, whom he shared with his ex-girlfriend Jordan Craig.
This news also comes after Kardashian previously opened up in the March 2021 premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ final season about her ongoing struggles with fertility. She shared that the doctor had told her she would have a “high-risk” pregnancy if she chose to carry her second child. “I’m not gonna get into specifics on-camera,” she said in the episode, “but they said it’s like an 80-something percent chance that I will miscarry. I almost miscarried with True at the beginning. But I didn’t know that was like a lingering thing.” In a confessional she added, “This is all really shocking to me. All I’m trying to do is bring more love into my life and into my family, and I just seem to be running into more and more roadblocks. It’s really hard for me to digest.”
And in an interview on the web series Lady Parts with Sarah Hyland that same month, Kardashian also revealed that the pandemic threw a big wrench in to her plans to expand her family. “They say, ‘If you wanna make God laugh, tell him your plans.’ So the one time I’m actually really trying to plan, God is saying, ‘Unh-uh, you can’t make your plans like this!’” she explained. “My plan was to have kids closer in age. But with COVID and everything, my plan’s been a little delayed. I definitely do want more kids. I have so many brothers and sisters. I think it’s such a blessing—especially during these times—to have a family member or people that you can play with and rely on and just have a buddy through life.”
