Last week, Travis Barker was rushed to the hospital under mysterious circumstances.
The situation appeared to be serious, but it wasn’t until the following day that we had any reliable information about Barker’s condition.
It turned out that Travis had suffered an attack of pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas that, in addition to being incredibly painful, can be fatal in some rare circumstances.
Needless to say, the situation was dire, and Kourtney stuck by Travis’ side throughout his painful ordeal.
Travis and Kourtney were just married earlier this summer, and this was the first major obstacle that they’ve faced as man and wife.
They came through with flying colors, but certain media outlets attempted to create the impression that Kourtney had abandoned Travis during his time of need.
They did this by publishing photos of Kourtney relaxing in a bikini, implying — and in some cases, explicitly stating — that she had taken off for the beach while her husband was laid up in agony.
As a member of one of the world’s most gossiped-about families, Kourtney is no doubt accustomed to reading untrue allegations about herself.
But clearly, she draws the line at publications accusing her of abandoning an ailing loved one.
“And to the paparazzi who sold pictures of me ‘out and about’ while my husband was in the hospital fighting for his life…these were photos actually taken weeks ago, (I can’t even remember the last time I wore that sweatsuit in the photos),” she wrote in a July 2 Instagram Story post.
“I didn’t forget about you,” she added, in ominous fashion.
“A new level of low of monetizing off of our nightmare,” Kourtney continued.
“Really savagely when I actually didn’t leave his side…shame on you.”
Fortunately, Travis is now out of the hospital, and the worst appears to be over.
But he and Kourtney will likely be forced to contend with rumors and speculation about his health for many months to come.
Earlier this week, for example, Kourtney was criticized for posting a pic in which Travis is posing next to a bottle of champagne.
(Pancreatitis patients are generally advised to abstain from drinking alcohol.)
What many commenters failed to realize is that the pic was posted two weeks ago, well before Travis was hospitalized.
On the Fourth of July, Travis and Kourtney went out cruising in one of his vintage convertible pickup trucks, her son Reign in tow.
“Poor kids. Not safe at all, I wouldn’t let my kids in those seatbelts in an old convertible like that,” one commenter wrote, according to UK tabloid The Sun.
“Reign is seven, he should still be in a booster seat,” another chimed in.
You get the idea.
In all likelihood, Travis and Kourtney will continue to contend with constant trolling from “concerned fans” seeking an excuse to put them down.
So it’s not hard to see why Kourtney was so angry with the claims that she abandoned Travis.
After all, there’s only so much falsehood and baseless criticism a person can stand!
