‘Yellowstone’ & ‘1883’s Kevin Costner, Faith Hill And Tim McGraw On How Taylor Sheridan’s Words Brought The Dutton Clan To Life

Two generations of the Dutton clan from Yellowstone and 1883 – Kevin Costner, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw – sat with Deadline to share their experiences and passion for taking part in the two Taylor Sheridan-scripted series. Along with the prospect of welcoming Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren into the family fold in the new Yellowstone spinoff 1923.

While the Duttons are a fictional family in the drama produced by 101 Studios/MTV Entertainment Studios, watch Hill cry a little at Costner’s description of how he created a backstory for his character that included all John Dutton lost with the early death of his wife.

The interview was done in London where the actors took part in introducing the international rollout of Paramount+. Both series are in the mix going into the final weekend of Emmy nomination voting, including Costner, Hill and McGraw. Costner plays Yellowstone patriarch ranch owner John Dutton, while Hill and McGraw play Margaret and James Dutton in 1883.
