It’s hard to believe “This Is Us” is just two weeks away from airing its series finale. The NBC drama has kept viewers captivated for six emotional seasons, but fans are still in disbelief that the show is ending. On May 10, series star Mandy Moore teased some juicy tidbits on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to hold viewers over until the season’s final episode.
“The second-to-last [episode], it destroyed me. I have a feeling it might destroy people, too.”
“I will tell you that the penultimate episode, which airs in like a week, I threw up after I read it,” she revealed to Fallon. “And maybe that’s just because it’s really close to the bone for me. Like, this has been my life for the last six years . . . There was a lot wrapped up in it. But I still think that you might need a day off from work.”
Though “This Is Us” fans are already bracing themselves for an emotional roller coaster in the series finale, Moore assures that the episode is “a bit more of a hug” that’ll bring more levity. But that’s not to say there won’t be more gut-punching moments before the season gets there. “The second-to-last [episode], it destroyed me. I have a feeling it might destroy people, too,” Moore added.
Leading up to the series finale, the “This Is Us” cast has already begun saying their goodbyes. “The end of many eras…literally!!,” Sterling K. Brown tweeted on May 2. “Su, it has been an absolute joy and pleasure to be your TV husband and grow old together as Pearsons.❤️✌🏿 @skelechiwatson #ThisIsUs.”
Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Moore’s onscreen husband, Jack Pearson, also shared a parting message with fans on his Instagram Story earlier this month. “That is a wrap on Season 6. That is a wrap on the whole series of ‘This is Us,'” he said. “Thank you for being a part of the journey. Thank you for being around for it all. Hope you’ve all enjoyed it.”
“This Is Us” airs its series finale on May 24. Watch Moore’s full “Tonight Show” interview above.
