The daughter of parents who both worked in the television and film industry, it was almost inevitable the Kristen Stewart‘s life would steer towards a similar direction. But what was no doubt less down to inevitability and more to her own talent was her enormous success, which saw her become the world’s highest-paid actress in 2012 at the age of just 22.
Having begun her career with a small non-speaking role on the Disney Channel at just eight years old, Kristen went on to star in a number of films in her teens before being announced as landing the lead role of Bella Swan in the romantic fantasy film Twilight in 2007 at the age of 17, cementing her position as a major name in the industry.
Of course, as the scripts rolled in so too did the red carpets, the fame and the global publicity, which required the young star to showcase an entirely new role; a wholly more personal one, without a script or a character’s wardrobe to rely on, and one which she was yet to entirely reveal to her adoring fans. The role of herself.
But despite growing up in the public eye, Kristen has never let the typical sartorial pressures of Hollywood affect her inimitable personal style.
From walking her first red carpet in tights, trainers and a black trench coat at the age of twelve to braving minuscule hemlines, sheer fabrics and experimental metal hardware in her late teens and holding the fort as a Chanel global ambassador for much of the last decade – not forgetting her love of a pinstripe blazer and Converse shoe, of course – it’s fair to say Kristen Stewart has one of the most unpredictable and interesting modern-day red carpet wardrobes.
