If you’re in need of some plus-size styling hacks, you’ve certainly come to the right place. Yet, when it comes to thinking of your favourite plus-size fashion influencers, you might only be able to think of a handful.
We love TikTok (we really do) but we can’t help notice that when we search for fashion content, the algorithm seems to be geared towards styling tips for slim-bodied people. This narrative needs to change – and plus-size fashion influencers are leading the charge.
In December 2021, TikTok was increasingly used as a platform to hold fashion brands to account for inconsistent and exclusive sizing.
Case in point? Search #remisrealistichauls, which has 81.8 million views and #plussizefashion with a staggering 2.2 billion to gain insight into this ever-growing community, as TikTok users, @remibader (also known as the “Queen of Realistic Clothing Hauls”) and @diana.dares highlight the struggles of high-street shopping as plus-size women.
Ready for some serious styling inspo? Here’s GLAMOUR’s round-up of some of our favourite plus-size styling hacks, courtesy of TikTok:
Say yes to the bodycon dress
Elisabeth Hartman (@elisabeth.hartman), with 133.7K followers on TikTok, shows us how to style a classic bodycon dress in three different ways:
1. First, she recommends pairing the dress with an oversized denim shirt for an easy daytime look. Accessorise with a crossbody bag, jazzy ankle socks, and trainers – you’re good to go.
2. Next, instead of adding a belt to layer over your dress (sorry Gok Wan), tie a flannel shirt around your waist to add a pop of colour and texture to your overall look.
3. Let’s face it, the bodycon dress is a night-out staple. Pair with a pair of killer-heeled boots and a leather jacket, or blazer for a chicer look.

Upgrade your white shirt game
The white shirt should be revered – not feared. And @diana.dares is on the money with her hack for cleverly tying an oversized white shirt.
Instead of wearing it tucked into a pair of trousers or making a classic knot at the bottom, unbutton your shirt till halfway up, thread through the two pieces of “dangling” shirt into the above buttonhole. Pull both ends tightly, and tie them into a bow. Or if you wanted to make the shirt more cropped tuck the bow underneath your shirt. Easy peasy.

Dig out your old white T-shirt
Katie (@katieiswinnen), who has a cool 106.2K followers on TikTok, brings us back to basics and shows us how to spice up our classic white T-shirt look.
The first way, she terms as the “French tuck.” Simply tuck in the front section of your T-shirt into your jeans/trousers. Then “pull” out the excess fabric so that it creates a balloon fit over the waistband.
