Gossip Girl has returned – yes, again!
Confused? Bear with us. The Gossip Girl reboot a.k.a. Gossip Girl (2021) came out late this summer, but as fans will know – it was split up into two halves, meaning only the first six episodes of season one were released initially. Keeping us on our toes, much.
That means we’ve been on tenterhooks since watching the cliffhanger sixth episode was aired, and now our prayers have been answered in the form of the trailer for part two of season one – which heralds six more juicy episodes for us to binge.
Trailer
The two minute 11 second long trailer was released by HBO Max late last week. We’ve watched it a few times now, and rest assured we don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
That is to say – if your daily reality is lacking in dark secrets, backstabbing and threesomes, then the second half of this HBO Max series is just the ticket.
Oh, and it’s all paired with the soundtrack of Ariana Grande‘s ‘7 Rings’, with its poppy but slightly menacing beat, just to drive home the narrator’s promise that “This story is anything but over”.
Plot
The trailer gives us plenty of teasing insights on what to expect from Gossip Girl (2021) part two, plot-wise.
It opens with a trademark voiceover from the series’ mysterious, anonymous narrator: “Trigger warning, followers… I promise this post will not be pretty.”
There’s illicit kisses, sensual scenes, loaded glances a-plenty – plus a ‘three in the bed’ clip of Audrey, Max & Aki.
There’s a dramatic scene of lead star Julien Calloway getting ‘cancelled’, facing a phone lit up with ominous Instagram notifications and actual booing.
There’s also clear family drama occurring, as Zoya tells half-sister Julien: ‘We’re not sisters. We’re not friends. We’re nothing. There’s no coming back from this.
