How To Share Apple Music Playlists & What To Do If It Isn’t Working

Apple Music is one of the most popular music streaming apps out there, and among the many features it brings to the table, one of them is the ability to share playlists with other users. Sharing music is an essential aspect of the listening experience. While some folks prefer to listen entirely on their own, others want to share their new discoveries and old favorites with other users. Whether it be friends, family, or followers on Twitter, most music apps have made it extremely easy to share songs with whoever you wish.

One such app is Apple Music. First released in June 2015, Apple Music has quickly grown into one of the top streaming services on the market. It’s pre-installed on all Apple devices, has access to millions of songs, and new features like spatial audio help set it apart from the competition. Spotify may still be the king when it comes to subscriber numbers, but when looking at the feature set and overall experience, Apple Music is a strong contender.

As you’d expect from any modern streaming app, sharing playlists on Apple Music is a sinch — regardless of which device you’re using. On iOS and Android, find the playlist you want to share, tap the three dots at the top of the screen, and then tap ‘Share Playlist.’ The process is virtually identical on the Apple Music Mac app and desktop website. Click on a playlist, click the three dots, and click ‘Share.’ That’s all there is to it!

What To Do When You Can’t Share A Playlist

While sharing playlists is easy enough, many Apple Music users have found difficulty doing so. More specifically, the ‘share’ option tends not to appear for some folks. In most situations, this is because someone hasn’t created an Apple Music profile. To check this, open the Apple Music app, tap the ‘Listen Now’ button on the bottom navigation bar, and tap the profile icon at the top-right of the screen. If there are prompts to create an account, follow those to set up your Apple Music profile and allow the app to access your contacts. Once that’s done, you should be able to share playlists without any trouble.

And that’s all there is to it! Apple Music playlists can be shared on virtually any app. Whether someone wants to share one on Twitter, Instagram, via email, or just copy a shareable link, Apple Music has you covered. Follow the steps above, create a profile if you don’t already have one, and you should be sharing playlists in no time at all.
