A jaunt of a song. A steady beat fueled with heart and soul – the new track, “Do You Think That I’m A Fool” from singer/songwriter Caroline swells with desire and catchy vibes. For anyone that has been misjudged, pigeonholed, overlooked or even mistreated, “Do You Think That I’m A Fool” exudes sweet redemption. A pop-heavy tone and a focused showcasing of Caroline’s magnificent vocals, this track swirls a bit of all that is great about both independent artists and mainstream pop music: it’s a great song.

You’re wrong, a content Caroline sings. The voice and demeanor makes it sound like she’s been through bigger things in life, much more important things that have higher stakes than to put up with this guy’s Tom Foolery and mind games. In reading her press materials, Caroline is open about her struggle with an eating disorder, as well as her mental health. When you really listen to the voice behind these words, a eureka moment hits. She’s happy. She’s no longer tethered to something or someone that is holding her back. Her rich emotion is communicated, and she definitely connects the listener to something just beyond the surface.
The backing music furthers along the want to dance, the get-up-and-go attitude. I loved the positivity and the feeling that everything around you is beautiful. You get a real sense in listening to Caroline, that not only is she appreciative and humble, but that she is grateful and wants more for her life. She’s maturing as a young adult. I think the growth you hear in this song is very subtle. It reveals itself after a few listens. She surrounds her voice with sounds that, in my opinion, sparkle like the street lights of Vegas. They are ever-present and always glammed to the tilt. The music base in this song has that zest, that bedazzled feeling. It has spontaneity. Her voice floats along the top, like the star that she is. That sparkle, that glimmer never dims. This song leaves the listener, too, with hope and light. She may not realize it, but Caroline has crafted an empowering tune.
Hit maker and prolific award-winning songwriter and producer Dan Book worked with Caroline on the finishing touches. Book’s impressive resume, which includes working with Miley Cyrus (I’ll Always Remember You”), Zendaya (“Bottle You Up”), Selena Gomez (“Forget Forever”), Hot Chelle Rae (“Why Don’t You Love Me” with Demi Lavato) and a slew of others, has that keen ear to get this song, and Caroline in the spotlight. She certainly shines, but she shows a dynamic side of her artistry that is exciting to hear. I think Caroline is the perfect torchbearer for pop music that is thrilling and emotive. These two definitely create magic and are alchemists with the hit “Do You Think That I’m A Fool”. I think the song is full of wonderment and at the same time, listeners are witnessing the first act of what I predict will be an evergreen artist. Afterall, Caroline is setting the rules and not playing games.
