Björk’s Viking Film The Northman Gets Release Date

Robert Eggers’ 10th Century Icelandic epic starring Nicole Kidman, Alexander Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, and Ethan Hawke will premiere next spring

The Northman, the Robert Eggers-directed viking revenge film starring Björk, Nicole Kidman, Alexander Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, and Ethan Hawke will premiere April 8, 2022. Focus Features will release the film in the United States; Universal has the international rights.

The film, set in 10th Century in Iceland, follows a Viking prince seeking justice for his murdered father. Production resumed in Ireland in August 2020 after a long pandemic-related delay. Eggers co-wrote the screenplay with the Icelandic poet Sjón, who has collaborated with Björk on “Jóga,” “Cosmogony,” “Oceania,” and others.
