Kris and Caitlyn Jenner are speaking out for the first time about how Kim Kardashian has been holding up since filing for divorce from her husband of almost seven years, Kanye West, in February.
During an appearance on The Kyle & Jackie O Show on Thursday, Kris told the hosts of her second-eldest daughter’s breakup, “I think it’s always going to be hard any time, you know, someone… there’s a lot of kids and Kim and Kanye. The good thing about our family is that we are there for each other and we’re supportive and we love each other very, very much. So all I want is for those two kids to be happy, and I want the kids to be happy. That’s the goal.” She added, “I think we all want that for our families, just to be able to have the love and appreciation of one another and just, you know, that everyone’s okay.”
When asked if the split would be documented on the final season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, much to Kanye’s chagrin, the momager teased, “You might. I don’t know what they have decided on in the finale because we haven’t even seen the first show yet. I’m sure they’re putting some final touches, but I think it’s just a private time for them. Kim wanted to deal with this with her own family in her own time, so I think that’s going to be for her to work through and process. When she feels like it, I’m sure she’ll say what she needs to say.”
Caitlyn also expressed her unconditional support for her step-daughter during an interview on People (the TV show!), but didn’t want to step on her toes by making any declarative statements. “At some point, she’ll probably come out [and] make a statement, but it’s her statement and not mine,” she said. “I love her to death. She’s a great person. We were texting this morning and, you know, I wish her nothing but the best.”
And apparently Kim’s life post-Kanye has been pretty good so far. A source told People the reality star is enjoying spending quality time with her friends. “Kim is figuring out her new life as single. With Kanye, she was often on his schedule. Now she is able to do whatever makes her happy,” the source said. “Lately, she really enjoys girls’ nights. She sees her girlfriends a couple of times a week at least. She loves catching up with them. She has a big group of friends that are great support.”
