WTF is ‘nature’s cereal’? TikTok’s favourite healthy breakfast (approved by Lizzo) is going viral

TikTok has become quite the source of education – if it’s not offering viral beauty hacks we’d actually never heard of before (like covering our entire faces with lipstick to create a dewy glow), it’s suddenly having us raiding the fridge and kitchen cupboards to whip up baked oats or multicoloured rainbow pancakes.

And guess what, there’s another food trend doing the rounds, it’s a healthier alternative to a bowl of breakfast cereal and milk and people are going crazy for it. It’s called ‘Nature’s Cereal’, any guesses what this might entail?

What is ‘Nature’s Cereal?’

We have TikTok user @natures_food to thank for this one, he shared a recipe for a dish he dubs ‘Nature’s Cereal’ containing these ingredients: pomegranate seeds, coconut water and a handful of blackberries, blueberries and strawberries.

He mixes the fruit in a bowl, pours over the contents of a freshly opened coconut and that’s his breakfast.

In the video, which has been viewed nearly 4 million times, he says:

“Whenever I eat this cereal first thing in the morning, it helps with digestion,”

He added, “But the number one thing that I notice when I eat this is the energy level. The energy level is through the roof. I literally felt like I could run a marathon.”

How did ‘Nature’s Cereal’ go viral?

Things stepped up a notch when Lizzo, who follows a vegan lifestyle, decided to try her hand at making ‘Nature’s Cereal’ sharing a video to her 13.2 million followers of her own “Coconut Water Berry Breakfast Cereal.”

Filming her first bite, the singer says “Oh!” gleefully, before tucking in to another, telling fans, “It’s good, y’all,”

She goes on, “I’m addicted, y’all,” adding “It’s really so good. I don’t know what it is about the coconut water, but it’s like creamy. And the pomegranates give you that crunch … don’t knock it ’til you try it.”

While some enjoyed the cereal, asking @natures_food for an alternative recipe that doesn’t use coconut (cue: pineapple juice works just as well) “This is genius because I was trying to figure out what else I could use because I’m allergic to coconut” said one user, others weren’t so taken by this viral TikTok food trend, calling it an “unblended smoothie.”
