Interview with Tiffany Sayers

What was a childhood dream of yours?

I wanted to be a teacher. I had an imaginary class that I would teach new things to all the time. Then I began putting on mini home concerts for my family using a hairbrush as a microphone and a couch as a stage. I guess I have always wanted to be front and center, showing people what I have to give.

Who do you turn to when you need someone most?

My mom. She’s my best friend. She truly knows me and loves me for me. I can come to her about anything and am so grateful for the special relationship we share.

What was the first song you remember playing on repeat that made you want to get into music?

I would lock myself in my room and listen to Tori Amos and sing along for hours. She was one of the first singers who inspired me to experiment with my voice, which led me to discover I wanted to be a singer. Anytime by Brian McKnight was also played on repeat. He sang the song with such passion and emotion, and I was in love with the piano parts. I felt every word, the song brings you into its mood, and you can’t help but feel it and visualize the story. I remember thinking I want to write and sing a love song this good.

Tell us a story that you laugh about with your friends to this day?

I came back from a party pretty tipsy during my college days and asked my friend, who was also my roommate at the time if we could be friends like babies. HAHA! I still don’t know exactly what I meant, but I think it means to love each other no matter what. I can say we are still friends like babies to this day!

What is your favorite part of the music industry?

Collaboration. I love creating with people who love music as much as I do. We relate to each other and communicate on a deeper level. It’s inspiring and motivating. My other favorite part is performing, both in the studio and on stage. It’s my time to shine and connect with an audience, and I love it.

What’s your least?

It’s a tough industry to crack into, but you can’t let that stop you. The key is to keep working on your craft, keep making music you love, keep building relationships, and keep growing. Where there is a will, there is a way.

What is a project you’re working on right now?

I am putting together a virtual concert set with my guitarist Michael Kohl. We will be performing my two new singles, Trippin’ Over You and My Body Knows, along with songs from my debut EP, 12:22, and some covers!

Where can fans find your music?
