Nicolas Cage And Riko Shibata Married In Small Las Vegas Ceremony

Mazel tovs are in order for Nicolas Cage and Riko Shibata, who were quietly married in a small ceremony at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas on February 16. “It’s true,” Cage confirmed to People, “and we are very happy,” he added.

The date was picked as it was the birthday of Cage’s late father, educator and author August Coppola, older brother of film director Francis Ford Coppola and actress Talia Shire.

This marks the fifth marriage for 57-year-old Cage. His first was to Patricia Arquette, second was to Lisa Marie Presley, and third was to Alice Kim, with whom he remains close. (Kim was in attendance at the February nuptials, as was their son, Kal-El.) Cage’s fourth marriage, to Erika Koike, lasted only four days. A relationship with model Christina Fulton begat his first son, Weston, in 1990.

Riko Shibata, born in 1993, met Cage in Shiga, Japan, over a year ago. She walked down the aisle to he favorite song, “Winter Song” by Japanese pop duo Kiroro, according to People.

Last August, Cage went on his brother’s radio show and said that he proposed to Shibata via FaceTime and sent an engagement ring to Japan via FedEx. (Marc “The Cope” Coppola, also an actor, has been a primary force in New York rock radio for 30 years. In February 2020, Cage and a “mystery woman” now known to be Shibata were spotted visiting the pyramid-shaped tomb Cage has had built in New Orleans for eventual long-term use. The tomb, in the famous St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, was built in 2010 and occupies two burial plots. It is inscribed with the Latin words “Omnia Ab Uno” which translates as “Everything From One.”
