Money on your mind right now? Us too. This super informative Facebook group will solve all your financial woes

The outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic last March has played havoc with our finances. Many lost their jobs or were furloughed, savings and financial plans had to be restructured, entire sectors were put on hold and the economic implications are only just becoming clear, with borrowing rising to its highest level in peacetime history.

We know that, as a result, money is at the forefront of most of our minds right now. That’s why we launched our Money Matters group, to help you tackle your money-related concerns, provide access to leading financial experts, and break the taboo many women still face about discussing money.

New to Money Matters? Welcome! Here’s what it’s all about, and why you won’t regret becoming a member (for free, obv)…

You’ll have a safe space to ask your questions

As a Money Matters Facebook member, you’ll be able to post to the group and ask any money-related questions you may have. If you’d rather be anonymous, you can send us a DM and we’ll post on your behalf. Just some of the recent topics our members have discussed include:

  • “I get really nervous talking about salary with prospective employers but have an interview next week and really want to push for more than the role is advertising. Does anyone have tips for getting over these nerves? Or how to phrase asking for more money?”
  • “I’m suffering from serious burnout. I am really unmotivated with my job and I’m finding it hard to stay passionate and positive about it… Has anyone also suffered burnout, and if so, what did you do to help yourself snap out of it?”
  • “I want to get a credit card to build my credit score and hopefully get into a good financial position to buy a house in the near future. I aim to spend £100 a month and pay it off instantly. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where I should apply?”

We know that, more than ever, our money and financial stability is at the forefront of our minds. That’s why we wanted to create a community where Glamour readers can talk openly about their finances, free from jargon, judgement and scaremongering. Just a quick scroll through the group is enough to see how genuinely supportive our Money Matters members are of each other, and how quick they are to help each other out.

You’ll receive genuinely useful, practical money advice

As well as members exchanging advice between themselves, we post some of the latest financial advice on the group from some leading industry experts. From tips on managing your money during the coronavirus pandemic and furlough advice, to saving for that dream honeymoon or house, we’ve got everything covered.

You’ll have access to one-to-one Q&A sessions with the experts

Each week on Money Matters, we offer you the chance to do a one-to-one Q&A session with an expert, from employment lawyers to life coaches, to give you the expert insights and advice you need.

You’ll be able to read money diaries from people like you

Last year, we launched our weekly #MoneyMatters column in which a different reader shares their money diary each week, and our financial experts – including Alice Tapper, author and founder of Go Fund Yourself – offer tailored advice to their situation. From building up savings to a jargon-free guide on investing, no topic is off limits.
