It’s a triple dose of Cyberpunk 2077, as not only has CD Projekt RED released the game’s launch trailer prior to its release tomorrow, but the trailer has a somewhat-hidden message regarding the game’s eventual DLC. Not only that, but GameInformer found a little something in the game where you can have a conversation with Hideo Kojima!
First things first is the launch trailer, which does the job of introducing the world and story of Cyberpunk 2077 to players, including the game’s protagonist, V (whomever that might be for you). This is where CD Projekt RED gets sneaky. PCGamer first made the discovery at the end of the trailer (around the 2:09 mark), where you get a frame of text explaining that the team had “learned a lot” from their work on The Witcher 3‘s DLC, and are planning “substantial story-driven content” for the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC as a result. We can expect the first bits of DLC “in early 2021”.
As for the other Easter Egg, it was known that influencers were going to be showing up in cameos in the game, and among them was Death Stranding‘s Hideo Kojima. As to where exactly you’d find him was the question. Luckily, GameInformer did the work to find him during the main storyline during “The Heist” quest.
During the quest, you’ll end up at a hotel, where you inform your partner that you’ll meet them up in the hotel room. Before you go there, if you wander around the hotel itself and into the bar, you’ll Kojima lounging around in a booth, having a drink and talking to a few people. Sporting an Akira-inspired jacket, Kojima’s in-game character’s name is Oshima, and he’s listening to some movie pitches when you see him at the bar. You can even interact with him.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches December 10 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of the game are also due in the future.
