Zara has dropped some seriously chic coats and these are all on our shopping list

We’re not sure about you but over the last few years, we’ve really been investing in our coat collection. Maybe once upon a time a simple black winter coat would do but, the problem is, during winter, it’s slightly on repeat, meaning the same look every day. If you’re mixing up your style finding a few versatile coats that can be switched up is the dream scenario. Plus, since your winter coat is probably the only thing your friends and family might see for a while (given the current second lockdown restriction of meeting outdoots) it’s never felt like a better time to scour the market.

And this where our favourite high street hero Zara comes in. Every year, its coat collection seems to up and ante on the last, offering up some seriously chic styles that can be worn season after season and we reckon the latest AW20 Zara coat drop is its best yet.

If you’ve ever dreamt of owning a classic MaxMara camel, you’ll be pleased to know the Zara website is teeming with similar styles. In fact, they literally have hundreds of coats to shop right now. Many are a wool-blend, meaning the fabric feels warm and a good quality, but the blend (with polyester) keeps the price point lower.

The current coat collection is quite muted, so if you’re looking for bold shades, this isn’t the place to come. What they do have, however, are plenty of soft browns, pale greys and creamy cashmere shades that would work effortlessly over the Zara knitwear collection (that we are also seriously digging). This palette is also very transferable so it won’t look outdated in two or three years time.

Among our favourites, we’re loving the double-breasted lapels, the ruffled sleeves and belt styles dominating the drop. In fact, we’ve rounded up our edit of the best Zara coats you can buy now to save you hunting through the website…
