Calling all hair fanatics! GLAMOUR, Aveda and the Black Skin Directory are hosting an incredible event just for you. The Black Hair Conversation – an immersive virtual event dedicated to serving the needs of Black women – will take place via Zoom on Monday 19 October and we’d love you to join us.
This engaging and informative evening of panel talks will explore every aspect of hair, from dermatological to cosmetic, and all its concerns for black women.
The evening will be split into three segments, which cost £5 per ticket, with an incredible roster of talent and experts – including Renée Gadar, Tolly T and Winnie Awa, who will be discussing all things Black hair, while sharing their own stories, tips and tricks.
Segment 1: Facts & Follicles
Time: 5.30pm-6.30pm
What? An in-depth and informative chat about the science of Black hair and the best product recommendations you need to know about.
Panel: Jamelia Donaldson of TreasureTress Box, Aveda global artistic director Renée Gadar and trichologist Eleanore Richardson, moderated by Dija Ayodele of the Black Skin Directory.
Segment 2: Too Woke for Weave?
Time: 7pm-8pm
What? A discussion on the politics of weave vs natural hair, as well as protective styling tips.
Panel: Tolly T, Yomi Onashile of The London Wig Bar and Winnie Awa, founder and CEO of Antidote Street, moderated by Zezi Ifore.
Segment 3: Curl Pattern Politics
Time: 8.30pm-9.30pm
What? A guide to looking after your natural hair, delving into ‘The Big Chop’, workplace identity and acceptance, and Western beauty standards.
