Jared Padalecki Would Absolutely Return For Supernatural Movie

Jared Padalecki is extremely open to returning for a Supernatural movie. Padalecki has starred as Sam Winchester – who hunts monsters and demons across the country alongside his brother Dean – on the CW show Supernatural for the past fifteen years. However, as all good things must come to an end, Supernatural’s last few episodes will air later this year.

Initially, Supernatural‘s final episodes were supposed to be finished much earlier in the year; however, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic shut down production back in April, meaning that Padalecki and his co-star Jensen Ackles just wrapped up filming a little over a week ago. As such, the pair bid a bittersweet good-bye to the series that helped propel both actors into stardom, as well as thanked fans for their ongoing love and support. Yet, while Supernatural is ending its 15 season run, Padalecki isn’t ready to say goodbye forever, recently saying that he would be interested in returning for a movie based on the series.

Padalecki stopped by the Inside of You podcast hosted by Michael Rosenbaum to discuss his time on the show and what life looks like post-Supernatural. While the two chat about Padalecki’s favorite moments on the show, Rosenbaum ends the podcast with a series of rapid fire questions. The first set of questions he asks is if there are plans for a Supernatural movie and whether or not Padalecki wants to be involved. In reply, Padalecki replies, “I hope so and abso-f*cking-lutely.”

While there haven’t been any definitive plans for a Supernatural movie yet, fans aren’t ready to let go of Dean and Sam Winchester. In particular, the show ending opens the door for various spin-offs, with popular suggestions including a film about Bobby and Rufus’ hunts or a story regarding Sam and Dean as kids. Either way, the possibilities are just about endless; even if Supernatural kills off one of the brothers in the finale, the series’ penchant for bringing characters back to life means death is but a minor obstacle. As such, there’s a distinct possibility that Padalecki may get his wish for a Supernatural film.

While Supernatural has had a strong 15-year run, it’s hard to acknowledge that such a series is finally coming to an end. Even if the monster-hunting show has certainly faced its fair share of critiques over the years – such as the shaky, forced storylines of certain seasons - Supernatural will forever be remembered for its outstanding cast of A-list actors. Although it’s unclear if a Supernatural movie really will come to fruition, fans of the monster-hunting brothers will be eagerly awaiting the good news in the meantime.
