Gabriele Saro’s Two New Singles (with Yves Agbessi and Francesco Siliotto) “So Cold” and “Lovin Clubbin”

Gabriele Saro has the best of both worlds in his music – balance and rationale. Science and art. Poetry and stability. The same can be said for Saro’s two new singles (with Yves Agbessi and Francesco Siliotto) “So Cold” and “Lovin Clubbin”. Exasperating the mind with a flurry of electric wavelengths and new rhythms, both tracks also have a very humanistic feel. It’s up to the listener to decide what side of the coin best fits their mood, but chances look good that either fill the sonic need.

Saro lives in Italy and has garnered a master’s degree in neuro-linguistic programming. His undergraduate studies are in business administration, as well as violin and a masters in composition for film music. It’s evident in both his latest tracks that the rich movement unveils a story without words. These tracks might not have the classical sound, but there is deep level of appreciation of music foundations in general in these tracks.

In “So Cold” a male voice sings with reflection. An electric piano opens to a wider, larger landscape sound. I took you for granted and I regret it, sings the male vocalist. The chorus, I feel so cold, so cold is repeated with the word cold drawn out into two syllables. The percussion, more subtle than “Lovin Clubbin” is peppered. A coolness, a wind blows through the music bed. This song, like the protagonist, lingers for a while before it really comes to fruition. The melting beats, the shimmering lights Saro creates in his movements feels anthemic.

“Lovin Clubbin” is more sprite of the two tracks. Lyrically, there is a story, but the male vocalist uses the word damn like it’s going out of style. I felt myself listening more to the music base and channeling the vibrations and vitality into a feverish mix. This is the song to set the night’s tone and get the juices flowing. I felt invincible and unstoppable listening to this song…like mix drinks were on the house and tomorrow is the start of a seven-day vacation. The backing music, too, has a more sensual tone and vibe than “So Cold”. Whereas “So Cold” has a more inward reflection, more emotive storyline, I think “Lovin Clubbin” is about letting loose and living in the moment. No regrets and certainly not even thinking about regrets. “Lovin Clubbin” is about dancing and finding that someone for tonight, or maybe for the ever after. Tonight is the night you will meet that someone…coming from across the room.

Night and day? No, these two songs are not opposite. They are, though, both frightfully good. Saro’s instincts with music beds and concoctions is modern prose. Never mind the lyrics, these songs take the listener into far off places of the mind and the heart. Saro helps the listener navigate and provides a vehicle, but his New Age and electro-dance foundations are a spectacle for which to be admired. It’s no wonder he’s composed hundreds of songs. Saro just might be the Google of music; his mind is dreaming up as many answers as there are questions.
