When it comes to fashion, every now and then a piece comes along that unites us all. Sure, we all have different tastes and varying ideas of what does or doesn’t deserve a spot in our wardrobes, but these items seem to somehow transcend trends or styles and appeal to everyone.
Sometimes it’s a high-end designer item, like Chloé’s much-loved ‘C’ bag that launched last year. Other times, thankfully, it’s something a little more affordable.
Remember @hot4thespot? The 2019 Instagram account dedicated to sightings of Zara’s black and white spotted midi that was so omnipresent that you couldn’t go a day in the hustle and bustle of central London without spying it at least a handful of times.
So what’s this year’s cult high street piece? Well, in case you’ve been living under a rock let us remind you that 2020 has been an unusual sort of year. Having swapped seeing our friends for watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S, and our trips for tracksuits, there’s been very little in the way of ‘summer must-haves’… other than *another* dalgona coffee, of course.
But one item that managed to sell-out almost immediately, and then again during its relaunch, was the Dune Lockstockk ‘Dad’ sandal.
Flat – and therefore perfect for all those exciting adventures no further than the corner shop and back – and featuring the industry’s favourite double strap, it was an immediate hit with some of Instagram’s chicest influencers.
Having amassed an 800-strong waiting list, it became the indisputable shoe of the season. And we’ve got some great news for you… it’s back.
Restocked for the third – and final – time today, high street stalwart Dune have re-released the style in its original black raffia as well as a super chic black quilted leather.
If you’re looking for something a little punchier, the shoe is also being launched in a beautiful multicoloured bouclé and a leopard print early next week.
Perfect worn with everything from minis to midis, jeans to even trouser suits, it’s the ultimate in versatile footwear. And if you’re thinking that September surely signals the end of sandal season, fear not as the chunky, fuller-coverage nature of these render them the ideal option for fresh autumn days.
In fact, worn with a cropped jean and cosy knit may well be the chicest way to wear them of all.
But don’t let us distract you. These have already sold out twice before so you might want to get to it.
