The video for K-pop group BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez’s new song is finally here

After teasing us with colourful snaps and posters for weeks, the music video for South Korean K-pop group BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez’s new song “Ice Cream’ is finally here – and it’s the cool, pastel-coloured collab of our dreams.

“Ice Cream” is a catchy, upbeat anthem with serious ‘song of the summer’ vibes. Written in English with a little bit of Korean, the lyrics are flirty, fun and sure to be stuck in our heads for the foreseeable future. If you can hear Ariana Grande‘s influence in the song, you’re not mistaken – ”Ice Cream” was written alongside the pop princess and Victoria Monet.

The video, of course, is a high-energy vision of colour, and we couldn’t talk about it without discussing the incredible fashion. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa are dressed head-to-toe in retro-inspired outfits that hark back to the 1950s pin up era, with a nod to the flower-power style of the ‘70s, while Selena makes her entrance wearing a striped sailor-esque bikini and hanging out in an ice-cream truck.

The music video has already surpassed 20 million views on YouTube – largely thanks to BLACKPINK’s dedicated K-pop stans and Selena’s ‘selenators,’ who can’t seem to get enough.

Ahead of the song’s release, the band released a video clip on Instagram of a call between the girls and Selena, in which she said “Thank you for staying up so early!” (the girls are in Seoul, while Selena has been quarantining in California). She continued, “I’m so stoked. I’ve been a fan of you guys and so this is a big, big dream for me,” to which the girls exclaimed “Oh my god!”.

To mark the single release day, Selena revealed that she’s created her very own ice cream flavour for New York restaurant Serendipity 3, called “Cookies & Cream Remix” and made from pink vanilla ice-cream in homage to her collab with BLACKPINK. Any chance of shipping that over to the UK?

We’re so glad that the “Ice Cream” single is finally here, and we’d hazard a guess that we’re going to be watching the video on repeat for quite some time. Congrats to BLACKPINK and Selena!
