Watch Flaming Lips Perform “Race for the Prize” in Bubbles on Colbert

The Flaming Lips were the musical guests on last night’s remote episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Most of the time, when multiple band members do a remote performance at the same time, they’re all on different screens, like when Wilco recently debuted their new song via a multi-cam performance on Colbert. That’s not what the Flaming Lips did.

Instead, each member of the band hung out in the same room but sequestered themselves in some of Wayne Coyne’s signature bubbles. They performed in front of an audience who also each hung out in their own bubbles. Watch them perform “Race for the Prize” below.

The band recently shared the new song “Flowers of Neptune 6,” which features vocals from Kacey Musgraves.
