The Bronx does it again. Great hip hop that is – home to some of modern music’s most interesting emcees, Bronx resident and star on-the-rise, Shemie Rozay has unleased yet another killer track called “City Drop”. Adding from his already fierce and impressive arsenal, “City Drop” sets the stage for Rozay to catapult from his beloved city. “City Drop” is out now via All Around Money Multi Media Entertainment Group.

Dripping with cues from old school hip hop from the likes of the East Coast sound, Rozay’s “City Drop” cuts to the chase with quick beats, killer delivery and lots of cockiness. At first listen, it’s a night out, what’s going to happen when he and his brood drop out into the city and show the ladies a good time, a moment happens when a few members question who’s friends they are and if that crew belongs there? One other way to digest the song is to look more into Rozay’s personal background. He’s been rapping for some time but positions himself as an entrepreneur and a billionaire-in-the-making. Outlandish. Maybe. Maybe not. He’s a formidable artist and that states in the track “you gotta slide up on it, better climb up on it, don’t get tired on it”. One has to imagine he’s putting down his own personal mantra of by never settling. Hell no is he won’t be giving up. Even if that climb takes years, he raps “take your time on it” he’s aiming for the jewelry, the expensive Tesla cars and piles of money. “I’m about to crush this” he provokes.
Taking a cue from Rozay’s biography, the rapper/businessman is also a community advocate. Much like Meek Mill he’s focused on giving back to youth. The aforementioned lyrics could also be presented to these younger listeners as motivation. Rozay could be urging them to take it slowly, and if you say you want something, then go and achieve it.
In some ways the money references are a bit cliché in the hip hop genre, but the way Rozay’s song goes, he’s pretty sly about it. The song is entertaining and the whole track’s vibe is unstoppable. The mixes are the tops and the overall production is tight. I’m not saying this is a go out-at-night song, per se, but it’s one of those songs that really sets the tone and gets the juices flowing. The body is ready is ready to dance to this song and when this COVID-19 stuff finally ends, this is the song that will be top-of-mind at the club. Drinks flowing, the “City Drop” beat dropping…woo eee. It’s on!
The confidence is there with Shemie Rozay. He’s got that undefinable charm and charisma. Fans of Meek Mill will especially like “City Drop” as will fans of Future, Gucci Mane, Tyga, pop music like Ariana Grande and Nipsey Hussle. With such a crowded indie music scene, and so many mix tapes out there, Rozay does a great job of standing out in “City Drop” with his personal style, relatable lyrics and overall it-factor.
