Love Island’s Sophie Piper reveals how big sister Rochelle Humes prepared her for fame & taught her what true love is

As someone who joined two of the UK’s most successful pop groups, Rochelle Humes is pretty adept when it comes to handling fame. It’s hardly surprising then, that TV presenter and singer Rochelle has imparted her wisdom on little sister Sophie Piper, who is entering the Love Island villa in a matter of hours.

At 21, the medical PA is one of the youngest of this year’s batch of contestants flying to Cape Town, but the burgeoning social media star assured GLAMOUR that her big sister has briefed her on exactly what to expect from the show.

Here, Sophie tells GLAMOUR all about her sisterhood, pared-back beauty regime and how she’d love to carve out a relationship like Rochelle and Marvin’s.

Why she’s going on the show

I am going on the show because I haven’t had a boyfriend in about 500 years. I think the experience in itself is so fun. I was in the mix last summer but the timing wasn’t 100% right so I am happy to have the opportunity now and what better place than South Africa?

What it’s like having Rochelle as a big sister

There was a period when we weren’t in contact. It was weird growing up not knowing Rochelle but since we have spoken, we speak every day so it is nice all of us being in each other’s lives now.

Having a sister in the public eye hasn’t helped or hindered my love life really actually. I feel like, if anything, surely it would help? We actually had a sit down about her setting me up with one of her famous friends and I asked her ‘Is there no one you can set me up with?’ and she was like ‘I actually don’t have any potential suitors.’ I am sure if she did. She would introduce me. My dream man is Anthony Joshua.

She has been so supportive of me going on the show. She said ‘be yourself, it will be a good opportunity for you, a great experience and hopefully you will bring home a boyfriend for your little nieces.’ I haven’t properly discussed how to deal with the fame after the show but I suppose she said ‘just deal with it, we are always here to help, ignore any negative people, there’s always people with one follower on Instagram so ignore them! Just brush it off your shoulders, don’t take negative comments too seriously.’

I am looking to find a relationship like the one my sisters have with their men. It would be nice to get along with someone well; I’ll just have to see who’s in there.

On beauty and body confidence

To be fair, I’ve been slacking in the gym department. I definitely could’ve gone to the gym more. Beautywise, I have been trying to get some sun to clear out the spots but I put as much makeup on as possible. In the nighttime, I’ll get dressed up but in the day, it’ll be just a bit of mascara and foundation to cover up the eye bags. I feel like doing something like Love Island, you have to be confident in your body so yeah, I am confident. I am sure everyone has their lumps and bumps they try and hide!
