With the fresh white tundra sprawling in every direction, the Elk Mountains cresting the sun, snow-shoes still buckled, and clad from head to toe to eyelash in Chanel, it was entirely a fair question. What lucky person does this sort of thing happen to?
As cinematic as the setting was—part Hateful Eight, part Pink Panther (apres-ski in Cortina)—it was refreshing to see the future of cinema as gobsmacked by the incredible beauty, both natural and designer, converging all in one spectacular place.
In anticipation of the hundred-year-old French fashion house’s newest boutique opening in Aspen, a rising class of starlets and musicians were invited to Aspen’s Hotel Jerome for a week of winter festivities. Joining Spainey was Golden-Globe nominee Kaitlyn Dever, musician Charlotte Lawrence, actress Kristine Froseth, and actress Nesta Cooper. “How could you not be charmed by this place, it’s incredible,” marveled Dever.
Days were active and expertly organized to include skiing, dog sledding, snow shoeing, and sleigh rides. Evenings were leisurely spent in front of fire places with hot chocolate and hot toddys, followed by meals in the town’s coziest restaurants over fondue and champagne. The unveiling of the boutique was a perfect mix of ski chalet and Mademoiselle Chanel’s famed Parisian apartment, reminding the next wave that Coco’s own incredible life paved the way for this incredible winter wonderland.
