It’s been three years since Angelina Jolie separated from Brad Pitt following an altercation between Pitt and the former couple’s eldest son, Maddox.
Given how vitriolic the split was in its earliest months, it’s remarkable what has not transpired in the years since:
For starters, Pitt and Jolie still have not finalized their divorce.
And it seems that they may still be months away from legally ending their marriage, as insiders claim the couple is no closer to reaching an agreement regarding finances or child custody.
On top of all that, it remains unclear exactly what went down between Brad and Maddox aboard that private jet in 2016.
But whatever happened, it was bad enough that the two of them still are not on speaking terms.
Maddox recently started attending college in South Korea.
Pitt recently toured Asia as part of the promotional tour for his two most recent films — Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Ad Astra.
Many assumed that the tour would include a stop at Yonsei University so that Pitt could reconcile with his son.
But according to Us Weekly, that didn’t happen:
“Brad didn’t try to see Maddox,” a source tells the tabloid.
“There’s been no contact between them.”
The insider adds that Pitt is interested in reconnecting with his son, but he feels the need to give the 18-year-old his space.
“Brad’s hopeful that as soon as his son gets older, they’ll become close again,” says the source.
In the meantime, Brad is hopeful that with Maddox overseas, he’ll be able to reconnect with his second-youngest son Pax, who also reportedly holds a grudge against Brad.
“With Maddox overseas, Brad is hopeful that Pax will also be interested in reconnecting without the influence of his older brother,” the informant claims.
On the bright side, Pitt will get to spend the holidays with at least some of his six children:
“Brad’s planning on having the younger kids on Christmas Eve,” a source tells Us — that means Shiloh, 13, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 11.
As for 14-year-old Zahara, she was present at Brad’s place for Christmas 2018, but the source says the actor is “not expecting her this year.”
“He’s hoping they’ll want to spend the night,” says the source.
“But he’s really just looking forward to Christmas Eve with them.”
Sounds like yet another tense holiday for the Pitt-Jolie clan.
