The nominees for the 2020 Golden Globe Awards have been announced. Up for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture are Taylor Swift’s “Beautiful Ghosts” from Cats, Beyoncé’s “Spirit” from The Lion King, and Elton John’s “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from Rocketman. They will compete against Cynthia Erivo’s “Stand Up” (from Harriet) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez’s “Into the Unknown” (from Frozen 2).
Additionally, Randy Newman is nominated in the Best Original Score (Motion Picture) category for Marriage Story. Other nominees in the category include Daniel Pemberton for Motherless Brooklyn, Hildur Guðnadóttir for Joker, Thomas Newman for 1917, and Alexandre Desplat for his Little Women score.
Absent from the nominees are Thom Yorke’s “Daily Battles” from Motherless Brooklyn and Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Lana Del Rey’s Charlie’s Angels track “Don’t Call Me Angel.”
This year marks the 77th anniversary of the Golden Globes. The ceremony takes place Sunday, January 5, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, and will air on NBC at 8 p.m. Eastern. Ricky Gervais will host.
