“Megadeth Day” Declared in City of La Vergne, Tennessee



January 17th, 2026 was officially declared “Megadeth Day” in La Vergne, Tennessee, with the band appearing in-person for a ceremony at city hall on Friday.

Megadeth were in town for “Let There Be Shred: The Ultimate Megadeth Immersive Listening Event,” which was hosted at the recording studio in La Vergne where Megadeth recorded their self-titled final album (Dave Mustaine and his family reside in nearby Williamson County, roughly 30 minutes from Nashville).

The proclamation was presented by Jason Cole, who closed by stating the day was “in celebration of the band’s extraordinary contributions to music, their lasting cultural impact, and their continued influence on artists and fans worldwide” (via the city of La Vergne’s official website).

Meanwhile, Megadeth also peeled off another single from the aforementioned album, dropping the track “Puppet Parade” on Monday. The nearly five-minute tune rides a mid-tempo pace and features some wild rock ‘n’ roll guitar leads and a more hard-rock sound as compared to prior singles.
