16x Oscar Nominee ‘Sinners’ Returns to Theaters This Weekend

Fresh off its record-breaking 16 Academy Award nominations, Ryan Coogler‘s Sinners is heading back to theaters tomorrow, January 23.

The vampire film opened #1 at the box office last April to the tune of $48 million. It went on to earn $368 million globally, making it one of the highest grossing horror movies of all time.

Now it’s up for Best Picture, Director, Actor, Supporting Actress, Supporting Actor, Original Screenplay, Costume Design, Achievement in Casting, Makeup & Hairstyling, Original Score, Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Sound, Visual Effects, and Original Song.

Michael B. Jordan stars in a dual role as twin brothers Smoke and Stack. Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, they return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo co-star.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review, “When the horror kicks into high gear, the deaths come fast and furious. And the deaths devastate. Coogler’s first foray into horror shows a keen understanding that the key ingredient to ensuring the scares land and the suspense leaves you on edge is making you care about the characters.”
