Pete Davidson Launching Netflix’s First Original Video Podcast

Pete Davidson is heading into his garage to make a podcast for Netflix.

The streamer is launching The Pete Davidson Show – its first original video podcast. The move is significant and forms a major part of the company’s push into the medium.

It comes after Netflix launched a raft of third party shows on its platform including The Bill Simmons Podcast, which kicked off the push live on Sunday January 11, followed by 3 and Out with John Middlekauff, Rich Paul’s Pardon My Take, Spittin’ Chiclets, The Ringer Fantasy Football Show, The Ringer NBA Show, The Ringer NFL Show, The Ryen Russillo Podcast and The Zach Lowe Show this week.

The Pete Davidson Show will launch on January 30. It will be exclusive to Netflix, meaning that it will not appear on any other platforms including audio versions on the Apple podcast app.

He will largely shoot the show in his garage, which he says is “where all the best conversations happen”, but will also take it on the road.

“Netflix was the home of one of my first stand-up specials,” said Davidson, “so it felt right to bring the podcast there, too. It’s me and my friends talking about anything and everything. It’s going to be a great time.”

Davidson is no stranger to Netflix; this marks his fourth collaboration with the streamer, which has aired two comedy specials Pete Davidson: Turbo Fonzarelli and Pete Davidson: Alive from New York. He also hosted and curated Pete Davidson Presents: The Best Friends as part of the Netflix Is a Joke Fest

The Pete Davidson Show is produced by Marc Lieberman, president of Above Average, the digital arm of Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video. Sarah Brennan Kolb, who produced Turbo Fonzarelli will direct.
