Puscifer have released the first issue of their new comic book series, “Tales from the Pusciverse.”
After teasing some panels in the video for last week’s single “ImpetuoUs,” the full issue can now be purchased for the sinister price of $6.66 via Puscifer’s website (with a signed copy also available for $100).
Issue No. 1 focuses on a conversation between Bellendia Black and Puscifer singer Maynard James Keenan, first seen in the band’s “Pendulum” video, and serves as an introduction to the character and story arc. The comic was written by Keenan, with the debut issue featuring artwork by Marlin Shoop (“Captain Action,” “G.I. Joe,” “Unprepped”) and Andy Belanger (“Kill Shakespeare,” “Southern Cross,” “Friday the 13th”), and lettering by Jack Morelli (“Afterlife with Archie,” “Peter Parker Annual,” Marvel Comics).

“I remember how excited I was as an elementary school kid when Wolverine was first introduced in one of the Hulk issues,” Maynard said in a press release. “Called neighborhood dibs immediately (long before cosplay was a named thing). Seeing Bellendia Black in print brings back all of those joyful school kid memories.”
Added Marlin Shoop: “Puscifer’s leap into comics with Maynard Keenan isn’t merch or novelty — it’s an extension of their long-running conversation with the absurd. The book hums with the same tension as the music: satire wrapped in menace, humor sharpened into philosophy. I’m glad I could be a part of that and bring it to their vision.”
The comic series launches in the lead up to Puscifer’s forthcoming album, Normal Isn’t, out February 6th. A US tour supporting the LP kicks off in March, and you can get tickets here.
